Well, iFixit did it before me. If you come here to check out the dissembly of the latest iPhone 4s. This is the wrong place. Check it out here: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPhone-4S-Teardown/6610/1
Here it’s just a story of how I tear down two of Apple’s iPhone 4’s. It happened a couple months ago. Something stupid and tragic happened. My iPhone 4 dropped on top of my wife’s iPhone 4, and broke the front glass of both phones. We didn’t buy Apple care, and Apple store charges $199 each for the replacement, so I decided to buy the replacement iPhone glass replacement and fix them myself. As you may know, to change the iPhone 4’s front screen, you will have to take the phone apart, and get everything out. That’s what I did.
Here are the pictures:
Take out the Sim Card. Not really necessary
Take off the back cover
Take out the battery
Take off the motherboard shield
Take off the camera and speaker, using the cheap tools from eBay
Take off the broken front glass
With the diagram, I won’t get panic.
As for the real iPhone 4S. I will get it tomorrow. I plan to tear it down, but iFixit did it already, so it’s no longer exciting. Also, iPhone 4 and 4s look awfully alike. It’s no fun.
